Koç University, Istanbul, Turkey, invites applications for the Director of ELC position with the appointment effective as early as Summer 2010. Koç University is a private, nonprofit institution located on a state-of-the-art campus in Rumelifeneri, ?stanbul. Currently, Koç University offers degrees in the Colleges of Administrative Sciences and Economics, Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Engineering, and Law as well as the School of Nursing. The new School of Medicine will admit its first class in September, 2010. More detailed information about Koç University can be found at the web site: http://www.ku.edu.tr/. The English Language Center (ELC) provides intensive language instruction which aims to prepare students for the English-medium academic programs of Koç University. Approximately 600 students enter the ELC each year, and, with its 40 faculty members and staff, ELC plays a pivotal role in students’ transition to university life. The Director is expected to participate in a range of activities that include administration of the center, educational needs and program assessment, curriculum development, and design and implementation of initiatives that are in line with the strategic objectives of Koç University. More specifically, the Director will be responsible for: • Management of all faculty members and staff, resources and facilities, • Administration of rules, regulations, and policies of Koç University, • Designing an effective curriculum and monitoring its delivery , • Course scheduling, • Selection, supervision, and evaluation of the faculty members and staff, • Preparation of annual budgets, • Teaching 10 class hours per week, • Establishing a professional and collegial work environment. NOTES: International Candidates Will Be Considered. Employer will assist with relocation costs. REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Qualifications: • Master’s Degree in TESOL or Educational Administration, Ph.D. is preferred, • Minimum three years of administrative experience in a university’s English language school, • Proven record of curriculum development and delivery.
